Just for your information:
If you are dual-booting Win NT and linux you don't have any of these
problems. If you have to upgrade windows it is not a problem, the MBR
doesn't get overwritten as long as you don't change any of the partitioning.
I just did this yesterday and I was really surprised actually that windows
didn't wipe out the lilo booter, it didn't. After a full install/upgrade of
win NT, I still geet the Lilo prompt and can boot to winnt or linux fine.
