[newbie] LILO

have had a few problems, lost windows after installing mandrake 7.0 and had to reinstall. as a result i lost the dual boot loader and wasnt surprised at all, however when i went to use the boot disk i created on installation i found that the loader printed letters LIL on the screen and stopped and the computer started making a whole bunch of funny noises, meaning restart and back to windows. help, i want to get in and start exploring mandrake,   anyone able to explain.   regards   alex
