I think the problem lies in the wording... the correct designation is Serial
Communications Port(s), or Serial1, or commonly COM1. And a printer as a
Parallel Port

Also don't be confused with a Modem on Com3/4/5 etc....the motherboard
supports many Com ports but the BIOS only specifies Serial Com1 and 2.

Modems, and other devices that use communications have their OWN COM port on
the hardware and will NOT show up in the System BIOS, but will show up in the
OS as supported COM ports.
So if you have to disable COM2 in the BIOS, choose SERIAL port 2, and disable
if you can.  Otherwise you will have to re-jumper the modem to COM 3 or
higher.
