 Hi Paul,
  Caldera Open Linux 2.3,which is running on the other machine, and
which I dual boot with Mandrake 7 on this machine. When you say the
network has to run,I guess you mean the lan. I can access the web server
and the ftp server and can print through Samba from the Windoze machine,
so it has to be running. The Caldera machine has a program called klpq.
It shows that it is actually in contact with lpd on this machine and
receives the message: Your host does not have line printer access. I
guess I get all the weird problems. Thanks anyway.
