Sorry, I lost the original of the question. It was something to the
effect that experimenting between Linux and Win98 had resulted in windows
modem settings needing to be reconfigured, but that it had been so long the
person had forgotten how.
There are two basic methods to change modem resources in Win98. I'll
give you a thumbnail on the assumption that as you do it you will remember
having done it before, and thus be OK. If you need details ask.
1) Right-click MyComputer and select Properties (at the bottom of the
list)> select the DeviceManager tab > click the Modems(+) & highlight the
correct modem (in case there are several, which there probably should not be)
> click the ChangeSettings button below & alter as needed.
2) Click Start and select Settings then ControlPanel > double-click the
Modem icon > highlight the correct modem (if there are more than one) and
click Properties below. Alter as needed. This method has the advantage of
having modem diagnostics available (on a separate tab) to check your work.
