[newbie] winmodem?

I'm trying to determine if the modem in my Hitachi laptop IS indeed a 
winmodem.  On the front is says 

Hitachi Mobilized Computing
PC card modem
with XJACK connector
x2 upgradeable
33.6kkps Data/14/4bps Fax

I've checked the web, and I'm not really getting anywhere....
