Roman,
  Have a look at    http://goforit.unk.edu    There is a free online course in
Unix there and it recommends using Linux to complete the exercises.
  I have found it to be very informative and useful.  It covers all areas of
running a Unix system with prompt commands and shell scripting.  There is also
courses in C programming.
