i've got one, pci version. When you get it screw a $2 cpu fan
onto it's heatsink. like most all high power video cards out now it
runs hot. Mine stays stable at about 48C (monitored from the
i2c/SMBus). If you run Windoze, an ftp search for 'v3oc3100.zip'
will add tweak and oc abilities to 'Display Properties' (r-clk on
desktop). It was written by one of 3dfx's developers. With
Mandrake, I've had the best luck in <= 7.0, setting the card up with
'XF86Setup' from a level 3 root console. 7.1 automagically set it
up and tested it.
that said, IMO is the V3 is prob'ly the best all around card
for linux right now, specially if you want 3d acceleration. I doubt
there's a better 2d/3d card for ~$65 - $70 (agp, pci version will
be ~$85). It works flawlessy with XFree 3.3.x, but I have had some
problems with it tryin XFree86-4, which is still beta. I suspect
by the time XF-4 is finally released for prime time, the issues
with some cards will be resolved.
