1.) I install LM 7.1
At this point booting into xwindows works fine.
That is to say, it works as it should.
2.) Upgrade to xfree86 4.0 so I can use the newish NVIDIA drivers.
Some issues with configuring the /etc/X11/XFree86-4 file,
but in the end it works fine... until I reboot.
3.) Booting into xwindows seems to work fine, *but* no matter what
window manager I select it kicks me into kde.
Now I realize I have to enter name & password first, then select
windows manager - so it's nothing that simple....
but it is upsetting, so I now boot to text mode.
4.) Here's the kicker... 'startx -wmaker' works!
    No kde... window maker.
5.) My initial guess is that whatever program it is that brings up
the nifty login box when booting to X is pointing somewhere it
shouldn't... any ideas? comment? knowledge at to what needs to
    be changed to remedy this?

THanks,
John
