Mine is an Epson Stylus 740 Color. And yes, I did experience the same
problem like yours.
I'm not so sure if I could help out but this is what I noticed in my case.
If my printer is already on before I start installing Mandrake 7.0 it does
not work (most of the time, coz I have reinstalled my Mandrake many times
already). However, if I turn on my printer just before I configure for
printer, it works. (very peculiar, huh?)
Sometimes also, I don't configure the printer in install and configure it
after installing. Sometimes it works and sometimes it does not.
Doing this on the same machine and using the same installation disk and
installation procedure and acting inconsistently, I can really conclude that
there is a bug (or there are bugs) in Mandrake 7.0
(this is just my personal opinion, no other intention intended :) )
"If" you are going to reinstall, try what I did. Turn on the printer just
before configuring it.
