While logged in as root, I rpm'd StarOffice 5.1 off the Mandrake 7.0 CD. The rpm seemed to go OK, but the readme indicates I need to run a setup program while logged in as a user account. When I try running setup, however, I get a "Bad command" message and if I just click on the setup icon in KDE, I get a file association box indicating Linux doesn't know what to do with the file. When I looked more closely, it looks like all the StarOffice files are listed as "Unknown" file type. How does Linux handle file associations? Is it by extension, ala Windows, or is there some other way? Furthermore, how do I install StarOffice under KDE? Jim
