[newbie] Netscape hang...

Hello,
I have just gotten 7.1 to finally install, and now anytime I try to edit
preferences in Netscape, the ENTIRE system locks up, and the only way to
move on is to restart (echos of windows). Any pointers before I am
forced to switch back to RH 6.1 just so I can get my email?
