Jeff, I have 7.1 also.

Is this a pci card or isa?  If pci, do a

cat /proc/pci
and look for what it says about your card.  There is a helpful file about this as it applies to modems at

http://www.o2.net/%7Egromitkc/pedersen.txt

but the same process is probably true for sound cards.  If you have an ISA card, try it with cat /proc/isa (standard disclaimer)

also look at the HOWTO files at

http://linuxdoc.org/HOWTO

EVERYBODY WRITE THIS DOWN.
If you have trouble with something, the best, most complete source of information along with documentation and urls is at

http://linuxdoc.org/HOWTO

Hope this helps!

I have Mandrake 7.1 installed but cannot yet configure sound on it.

I have a Sound Blaster Pro16 with Interrupt 5, DMA 1, DMA 16: 5 and MPU 330.
Even though I entered these numbers, still no sound.  Any thoughts?
