I think upgrading depends a lot on your personal feelings. If you are
completely happy with things as they are now, that could be a reason to
stay where you are. In MDK there is little reason to upgrade because of
specific programs (as an other OS may have need of, I have heard that Mac
users can run into that). There might be the need to upgrade to the newer
QTlibs or so, but that can be done through an RPM of just that.

I upgraded because I had heard that the support for my videocard would be
better (and it is indeed).

I did an upgrade, and everything worked fine afterwards, except the
changes I had made for Qmail. I had renamed the real sendmail program and
created a link to a Qmail program. That was bopped after the upgrade (and
made me puzzle for a while, since the change was so long ago).
But after that everything ran as I was used to in 7.0, only the video
handling is much better. (SiS 6536 or something chipset)
