Hi ,

This problem is proving very difficult to solve. I have previously
posted this problem under the subject: SB Live! Value card wont work;
but I think I have narrowed the problem down since then so I decided
to start a fresh
with my new found knowledge. However, if anyone wants to go back and
look
at the various the suggestions etc please feel free. Also for
anyone else experiencing problems with SB Live! I have found a great
site with heaps of information at www.euronet.nl/~mailme/ .

Anyway back to the problem, basically I am trying to configure my SB
Live! Value card in MDK7.0 and no matter what I try I always get the
following error message whenever I run modprobe emu10k1.

modprobe program:
/lib/modules/2.2.14-15mdk/misc/emu10k1
o:init_module: Device or resource busy.

>From the abovementioned website and the advice of several people on
this

newsgroup I think I have narrowed it to an IRQ problem.

when I run /sbin/lspci -v -b
I get the following for my SB Live! Value card:

00:0b.0 Multimedia audio controller: Creative Labs SB Live! EMU10000
(rev 08)
Subsystem: Creative Labs CT4832 SBLive! Value
Flags: bus master, medium devsel, latency 64, IRQ 255
             I/O ports at 1020
Capabilities: [dc] Power Management version 1

00:0b.1 Input device controller: Creative Labs Gameport Joystick
             Flags: medium devsel
             I/O ports at 1010
Capabilities: [dc] Power Management version 1

Now what strikes me as odd is the IRQ setting is 255! When it should
be
5.
I am also unsure whether the I/O Port settings are correct.

An extract from the above website showing what should be shown from
running /sbin/lspci -v -b is below:

00:0d.0 Multimedia audio controller: Creative Labs SB Live! EMU 10000
(rev 04)
Subsystem: Creative Labs CT4850 SBLive! Value
Flags: bus master, medium devsel, latency 32, IRQ 7
             I/O ports at a400
Capabilities: [dc] Power Management version 1

Now the million dollar question is how do I fix this. I am a newbie to
linux and I am not a guru with BIOS etc. so please be specific and
thanks in advance for any advice.

Regards,
Adriaan
