[newbie] X font server

Hello,

after trying to install sawfish I have trouble with
my X font server and can't start X.

Error:
FontTransSocketUNIXConnect: can't connect: errno=111
Failed to set default font path ' /usr/.........etc..'
Fatal server error.
Could not open default font 'fixed'.

Any help fully appreciated.
