Chris,
First go with the one that's good enough to see with. Then edit the
/etc/X11/XF86Config file. In that file, go to "Monitor Section" and
you'll find "HorizSync" & "VertRefresh".

Subject: [newbie] I REALLY NEED MY MONITOR TO WORK!!

Hey, how's it going. So I am trying to install Linux Mandrake 7.1 on my
AMD Athlon K-7, FIC SD11 mother board, running with 192MB of RAM. My
problem is that at the end of the installation when asking to pick my
monitor, no matter what monitor I pick, the screen flickers and is all
chopped up, I can't even see the sign on box enough to sign in. I have
an ATI Rage Fury 128 bit 32MB video card on a NEC MultiSync XV15+. Even
though I know that Mandrake supports the video card and the monitor is
even listed in the database, it still continues to flicker and be chopped
up. Please help me resolve this problem as I am anxious to start using
it.
