1. Gates *bought* the first version of DOS.

IBM recruited M$ to write the OS for the IBM PC. With time running out, he
bought QDOS (Quick and Dirty Operating System) from some poor sap for $US
70,000 and repackaged it into MS-DOS.

No offence intended.
BTW, you are correct about the other two points, assuming that by "Gates" you
mean Microsoft.
