Mark:
(Thanks for the straight line.) It means, "READ THE F(INE) MANUAL",
which has been the point of a lot of your recent excellent and
thoughtful postings to this list. I understand that it is a common reply
on some *nix newsgroups when someone asks, "Which slot does the shiny
plastic thingie go in?". I'm not the sharpest guy in the world about
Linux, but I do get tired of people who complain that they can't install
Linux without one damn hint about (1) what kind of hardware they've got,
(2) what they are using to install from, (3) what they did to prepare
for the installation, and (4) what they've tried.
BTW, just in case you got it wrong (and for other curious listers), the
BOFH is the Bastard Operator from Hell -- incredibly great British humor
(or humour) that can be found at www.theregister.co.uk/index.html. DON'T
TELL THE SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR AT WORK ABOUT IT.
Regards,
