Once upon a time there was something in the proprietary COMPAQ BIOS, if
memory serves, which caused great grief with linux installs. However,
COMPAQ claims whatever it was has been fixed, and they showed at a recent
Linux event in Denver to give away free software. This is just a heads up
in case you're thinking of getting an older used machine.
