For three days I have been attempting to send a file containing my kppprc to another list user. And for every attempt at sending that file I was inexplicibly hung-up-apon!! I finally worked it out after examining the content of kppprc and studiying a Hayes Command-set The standard escape command for my modem is 3 plus(+) symbols in succession The command which tells the modem to hangup are the three characters A + T + H AS ONE THREE CHARACTER STRING (no spaces and no + symbols) followed by a carriage return. My kppprc contains both the escape set and the hangup string!! After a bit of editing and inserting throw-away characters into the lines concerned I was able to send the mail. Took a number of failed attempts from a variety of different mailers on a Mac, Windows and Linux, and a call to the gurus at my ISP to finally nail it down..
