Hi,
I'm having a problem installing 7.1 on my machine and I hope someone can
help :-)
My machine : P166, 64MB RAM, Adaptec AHA1542, 4GB WD HD, Plextor CD-ROM
and Ricoh 6200 CD-writer.
When I start the install, it detects my SCSI board correctly but then I
get the message "Cannot mount/find CD-ROm on /dev/sd0" (or something
very similar). I found the patches on Mandrake's web site and put them
on floppy allright.
Then it says to press F1 to get to the help screen - OK. Then type
"patch" at the syslinux prompt - not OK. I have a "boot:" prompt and
when I type "patch", installation just goes on as normal. It does not
ask for the floppy with the patch drivers (although since I have a
AHA1542 and not 29xx, I should not need it..)
What do I do wrong, what am I missing ? I'm going slowly nuts. Please
put me out of my misery (no, don't shoot me, help me ;-)
Thanks for any help you can give.
