Marcia....in kde (your desktop gui), navigate with kfm (the
file manager) to the directory on the Cd with the 5 books and
the .gz file. Right-click your mouse on the .gz file icon and
choose 'Archiver' from the drop-down menu.

A new window will open. At the top of the new window are
several drop-down menu choices, choose 'File' and in the
drop-down menu choose 'Extract to...'.

A window will open and it should have your personal home
directory in a small text window. Also make sure the "all
files' radio button is selected. Then press the 'OK' button
at the bottom left with your mouse.

In your home directory there will be a new directory named
ILINXR.install. Open a terminal (probably an icon consisting
of a black monitor screen with a shell located on the panel at
the bottom of your screen) and type:

cd ILINXR.install
 then
./INSTALL

Now read and follow the text and instructions on the terminal.

Alan
