I can't connect to internet with
linux.
When I try to connect to internet, pppd die and I
can read the following message on /var/log/messages:
Sep 20 19:07:58 localhost pppd[1027]: pppd 2.3.10
started by root, uid 0
Sep 20 19:07:58 localhost pppd[1027]: Using interface ppp0 Sep 20 19:07:58 localhost pppd[1027]: Connect: ppp0 <--> /dev/ttyS1 Sep 20 19:08:22 localhost pppd[1027]: Hangup (SIGHUP) Sep 20 19:08:22 localhost pppd[1027]: Modem hangup Sep 20 19:08:22 localhost pppd[1027]: Connection terminated. Sep 20 19:08:22 localhost pppd[1027]: Exit. I tried to connect manually, with kppp and with rhdialer, but the answer is always the same. I tried also change the modem, change the linux distribution, change the port, and the answer is always the same. I tried also different ISP and the answer is the same. My modem is s 3 com Sportster Flash at 56k.
My computer is a PII at 266 Mhz My actual distribution is Mandrake 7.0-2 The most curious thing is that with the same computer, modem at all I can
connect to internet with Windows 98 and Windows 2000
