I just upgraded from 6.2 to 7.1, using the disk that came with the
August/September 2000 issue of "Maximum Linux". Now, my printer (Epson
Stylus Color 600) can't print anything besides plain text. When I run
DrakConf, I can only choose: HP DeskJet 1000 series, text-only, or
postscript printer, none of which work properly. In printtool, I'm told
that I don't have ghostscript (the "gs") program installed, which turns
out to be the case; what's odd is that, checking my RPMs, I get:
jedin@prometheus ~ $ rpm -q ghostscript
ghostscript-5.50-9mdk
jedin@prometheus ~ $ rpm -q ghostscript-X
ghostscript-X-5.50-9mdk
and if I try to install from the CD, I get:
[root@prometheus jedin]# rpm -Uvh /mnt/cdrom/Mandrake/RPMS/gh
ghostscript-5.50-9mdk.i586.rpm ghostscript-Both-5.50-9mdk.i586.rpm
ghostscript-fonts-5.50-5mdk.noarch.rpm
ghostscript-PrintOnly-5.50-9mdk.i586.rpm
ghostscript-SVGALIB-5.50-9mdk.i586.rpm ghostscript-X-5.50-9mdk.i586.rpm
[root@prometheus jedin]# rpm -Uvh /mnt/cdrom/Mandrake/RPMS/ghostscript-*

It looks like the packages all conflict with each other....
My printer worked fine under 6.2 and the versions of Mandrake, Bero, and
Red Hat I had on my machine previously. Is there any way to get a copy of
"gs" for 7.1, or do I have to pursue some other avenue.
Thanks for your help!
