I've used the logitech optical mouse. It was a matter of plug and play. Make
sure you're set on "intellimouse". Does the beam get bright with movement?
I'm still looking for a cordless optical mouse. Of course, not one made from
Microsoft.
As far as uninstalling linux... just reformat the linux partitions. Did you
want to keep your 'home' partition?
