Hi all,

I got back from vacation yesterday, switched on the PC after 3 weeks, and
weird things happen:

Cron does not seem to work anymore:

Editting my personal crontab gives me this

[paul@internet paul]$ crontab -e
crontab: can't open log file
/var/log/cron: Is a directory
crontab: can't write to log file
paul (11/04-11:29:29-1115) BEGIN EDIT (paul)
crontab: installing new crontab
crontab: can't open log file
/var/log/cron: Is a directory
crontab: can't write to log file
paul (11/04-11:29:32-1115) REPLACE (paul)
crontab: can't open log file
/var/log/cron: Is a directory
crontab: can't write to log file
paul (11/04-11:29:32-1115) END EDIT (paul)

When I log in now, I am greeted by a message similar to:
PAM_pwdb[number]: (login) session opened by user Paul (UID=0)

Finally, when the system is running for a while, I can't open a new login
session anymore, it just locks up and sits there.

Anyone any thoughts?

Paul
