Heloo people ,

I was wondering whether I could get some help with a few problems I
have been having with my new Linux installation. I am a complete
newbie and have a feeling that it would take me days if not months to
track down the problems. So here goes:

2. I cannot invoke any MP3 player. XMMS under Gnome tells me to ensure that the
soundcard is configured properly and no application is blocking audio.
Last night I could play MP3s but I then went into HardDrake
(stupidly) and after testing the soundcard I pressed OK which brought
up the message '-sox: Can't open output file '/dev/dsp': No such
device' when I clicked OK another message came up 'Playing a sample'
and there was no way to get rid of it. When I exited the whole
configuration tool and tried to listen to an MP3 I could not listen to
it and kmp3 could not be started. XMMS can start but won't play. When
I restart DrakConf and go to Hardware config, soundcard and go to run
configuration tool I have a message which states 'Wlecome to
Sounddrake 1. I've found an old soundcard configuration created by
Sounddrake:Creative LabsSB Live!'
My thinking is that I forced the system to create a new soundcard
configuration file and it can't play MP3s now. Is this correct? If it
is how do I go about restoring the old config file?

3. Lastly, I have a Logitech mouse. The scroll-wheel does not work. How do I
enable it?

Any help would be much appreciated.
