[newbie] Mandrake 7.2 Hangs on 'killall'

I just finished installing mandrake 7.2, but when I restart my system and it
goes thru the shutdown process, the system just hangs in the part 'killall'
and i have to do a cold reboot just to get back to mandrake and it has to do
all those fsck things.  Anyone can help me fix this problem?
