    The point I wanted to get across in this discussion is that the 
generic "edit resolv.conf and enter the DNS numbers your ISP gave you" 
is often, but _not always_ correct.

   I have primary 207.217.77.82 and secondary 207.217.120.83 entered in 
Kppp.  Those numbers are different than the ones EL gave me, and they 
told me that their DNS numbers vary depending on the number you dial 
into.  Getting back to my point tho, resolv.conf has:
nameserver 198.6.1.218
nameserver 198.6.100.218

   I didn't enter those numbers, they were auto configured by linux on 
connect, and there's no first line "search" or "domain" as I so often 
hear given in the generic "edit resolv.conf and enter ...." advice.
