At first do a "killall -9 cupsd" then "rm -f /var/spool/cups/*
/var/spool/cups/tmp/* /etc/cups/ppds.dat" and afterwards a "service cups
start". If the daemon does not start up correctly now (check with
"lpstat -t"), reboot and repeat these steps. If this does not help, do
"rm -f /etc/cups/ppd/<printername>.ppd; mv /etc/cups/printers.conf
/etc/cups/printers.conf.orig; touch /etc/cups/printers.conf", then the
steps from the beginning and reinstall your printer(s).
When "lpstat -t" shows your printer, start "xpp" as root and choose your
printer. Click on the "Options" button and in the dialog on "This
printer as default". Now "lp" or "lpr" without options should print on
the desired printer.
