Have you installed SSH? Or did you have it install ssh when you
installed Mandrake?

If so, it goes in and disables telnet. You won't be able to
telnet or ftp into the machine. If you have a "telnet client"
that will allow you to ssh into the machine you can do that.
The default settings for SSH will accept the key with no problem.

Try typing ssh -l <userID> <IP address or hostname> It will ask
you for key password, or it might ask you to create a key or tell
you it's creating a key on the remote host. I use Secure CRT in
Windoze, I've heard of others, but I don't remember the name any
longer.

Hope that helps.
