From one newbie to another

 The best solution to installing a sound card is;

     log out and go to "console" mode then use use "sndconfig" to install the sound card.

As far as the zip drive is concerned, you may need to unmount the drive.

The quickest way to do that is hit ALT-F2 to bring up the command line box and type "usermount" This brings up a GUI "mount/umount utility

Hello,
I am new to Llinux and am working through reconfiguring my system. Although
I have been able to solve many of the problems myself, I am still stuck on a
few things.

First, I cannot get sound to play. There are no error messages and I cannot
figure out what the probelm could be. I used to get an error using mtv
saying No such device (Muting), but I have overcome that and get no errors
from any program I try.

Also, on my Iomega zip drive [interal] once the disk loads, I cannot eject
it until I log out.

Thank you in advance for any help anyone can provide.
