Check your IRQs and see if someone isn't sharing the mouse IRQ, normally 12. If that is the case you will have to change one of the settings and I would not change the mouse from IRQ it's on. So that leaves the other function trying to use the IRQ. Don't know what else it would be if not that. Somebody jump in here and tell us both how to switch IRQs in linux even if I am wrong above.
