That is not true. He can go to a Mandrake Cooker and download the source rpm.
To do a src rpm he will probably need libbinutils if is syster is a LM7.2
Development setup.
Once he meets these dependencies, he can type rpm --rebuild
kernel-2.4.0.12.src.rpm. Go to the directory where it put your compiled
binary and then do a rpm -ivh kernel-2.4.0.12.i686.rpm or whatever your
system is(ie sparc, alpha, i586, etc).
