I have a pc chips m598lmr motherboard. My system has 128m ram. All
worked fine in windows98. linux7.0, & linux7.2. I had to use
append="mem=120M" in LILO. I updated my bios (I know, but it seemed like
a good idea at the time) & now neither linux can see the upper 64m
memory. The bios sees it and windows98 uses it, but I cannot get linux
to see it. I have append="mem=120M" in lilo.conf, & I reran lilo. At
boot, I typed linux append="mem=120M" and that does not work either. The
update did not give me a choice to save my old bios! I am unable to find
a copy of the old bios. The bios id string for the old bios is:
52-0323-001437-00101111-071595-000000 ( the new bios string is:
51-0930-001437-00101111-071595-000000). If anyone has a copy of the old
bios, I could use a copy of it. Or if anyone has any ideas about how to
get linux to see the upper 64meg of ram so much the better. Thanks
Charles
