I had a 5610 working under SuSE 6.4.  the biggest problem is knowing
what I did as I moved it to an NT server and replaced it with an
eternal.

Basically you can do it using setserial with autoconfig at the end. 
That is about all I remember other than the fact it worked and did not
need 2.4.  You might want to have a look through SuSE archive for 5610,
I think I posted there once with how I got it to work.
