ok, i just installed mandrake 7.1 and have chosen to use DHCP.
I have tried it both manually and via the netconf gui. The system DOES detect my NIC which is a 3com etherIII 3c509... I chose to use DHCP, and dhcpd is run, i see the link light light up on my switch as it polls my sonicwall pool of addresses (Sonicwall is a vpn/firewall/router which sits behind my cable modem and distributes my internal DHCP and acts a the gateway to the net).... but mandrake always sits there for about 45 seconds then FAILS!!! uhhg...
same during boot...
i've read several references to changing ifup scripts and/or ifcfg-eth0 config files, but none of those options worked... now, please!!, can anyone help me troubleshoot this issue?!?!? and i mean step-by-step.. because im a newbie from hell... thanks. -stuck dude. |
