Why to use it:
You won't mess up your file system in case of an accidental reboot.
Why not to use it:
There still might be some bugs in it (but I haven't noticed any, and it's
generally considered safe to use)
Some file systems apps might not work with it, and I don't think Samba
supports it.
The short answer is to install it, as it's well worth it should your power
ever go out, or something really bad happens and you have to reboot
improperly.
