Yes, the boot partition starts at roughly 2 GB, and all my
Linux partitions live below cylinder 1024.
Thanks for bringing that up.
I have, perhaps another clue to the problem. I used
Partition Magic to look at the Ext2 partitions since my last
installation failure, at it said that 2 of the root
partition's 4.5 GBs are used. The installation of packages
wasn't a psych-out.
One other clue: the floppy drive does work when I make a
replication disk. So the failure to make the boot disk has
nothing to do with the drive itself (although we pretty much
expected that).
