1)Netscape in and of itself takes longer to open than one would
normally expect from an application. I would guess it is in
some part due to how bloated the program has become. I finally
gave up on Netscape for this very reason and began using Opera,
which opens almost instantly.
2)Some of the problem could also be due to whatever you have
your home page set to. If it's a page that takes a long time to
load in general (ie a portal site that dynamically constructs a
page based on your user preferences, like "my.yahoo.com" or
something), then this could slow Netscape from opening in a
timely manner.
