[newbie] Sympatico and the D-Link 530-TX problems

I live in Quebec, Canada with high speed internet provided by Bell Sympatico.  I installed Mandrake 7.2 on my PIII - 733mHz machine and my D-Link 530-TX ethernet card (supplied by Sympatico) was not detected.  After a couple of reinstalls it was always the same thing with this error message when i try to configure the DSL connection:   "insmod'ing module via-rhine failed at /usr/bin/perl - install /modules.pm line 479"   The via-rhine i know is the correct driver, but a manual "insmod" or "modprobe" hasn't worked for me either.  The card is not detected by hardrake and the configure option is not available to set it up.   If you know of my problem or have a solution please get back to me coz linux is not much fun without an internet connection.
