Under Wine, some windows programs can apparently play ASF files; howevert,
there is no pure linux solution nor is there likely to be.
1. ASF is patented though prior art exists in the form of mpeg. No one has
the $2 to $20 million to challenge tha patent, even though the challenge is
likely to succeed.
2. ASF is a poor format for its purported purpose. Since it isn't
particularly "cool", it isn't attractive to cracking by developers in nations
where software patents do not exist and are not enforceable.
