states the following, but you should read the entire

9.10 Now how do I get this Xv extension to work?
First you need to install/use XFree 4.x. Once you got
that you have to make sure the XFree drivers you're
using are supporting Xv on your hardware. Here are
some locations to look for suitable drivers:
g200/g400 : xfree 4.x supports these
out-of-the-box
nvidia cards : www.nvidia.com (they've got binary
drivers)
ATI cards : GATOS www.linuxvideo.org/gatos/
i815 : the latest xfree 4.x code supports
these
3dfx (voodoo): the latest xfree 4.x code supports
these
