Hello again everyone,

I messaged this morning saying that my laptop's sound was not working
after reinstalling Mandrake, even though it worked perfectly in the
previous installation. In the former install, I was runnning just the
kernel 2.2.17, even though there was a 2.2.19 upgrade available. I
probably also did the alsa sound driver upgrade, though I do not remember
exactly. In the new install, I went ahead and did the upgrade.

Now, on my home PC, I also did the upgrade to kernel 2.2.19 plus the alsa
sound driver upgrade. Guess what? NO SOUND!!

So it would seem that my problems with sound are not due to a
mis-configuration, but to a problem with the rpms which I installed. Has
anyone else run into this problem? Are the Mandrake techs who frequent
this list aware of the problem? And will there be a fix available soon? I
would really like to get my sound back, on *both* PCs.

Dave
