Try KDE's kups.  I find that easiest for me to set up
printers.

My HP 850C works fine.  You'll likely get about 3
drivers to choose from.  It will behoove you to try
them all and pick the best for your default.

I understand you can tweak them and certain drivers
are better at certain tasks.  But it is my experience
that one (I believe the foomatic or something like
that..haha) tends to be much better than the others.
