was your old hard drive a 2 gig?
If it was its because you didn't setup the computers bios to recognice the
new drive...
when you boot up, you see the energy saver green and yellow logo,, (about 8
seconds after power on..)
press the delete key,, you will then enter a big blue screen, (no its not a
windows flashback... :-)
One of the menu items you will see is called IDE AUTODETECT... use the arrow
keys to highlight that.. then press enter..
it will look for your hard drive. and if what it finds is correct, then
follow the directions till you get back to the main menu.. then press F10
and select y.... and then reload mandrake,,
you should now see your full hard drive...
(All of this assumes that you have a standard motherboard with the AWARD
bios, which is by far the most common.)
good luck,
regards
Frank

Well, I don't have the opportunity to test this, but
you can try going into expert mode as you computer
first starts reading the CD (that first splash screen
you get from the installation disk) and see if adding
-L or lba32 helps.
So, maybe it would be something like:
linux -L or linux lba32
These paramaters are supposed to tell LILO that you
have a large drive. It should be working for you as
it is, but since it's not, I'm hoping these parameters
might help with whatever starts the installation job.
I don't know, though.
:(
