It might be a question of RAM. I have a 600 mhz pentium with 256 mb RAM.
It is very fast with Mandrake 8.0. Even StarOffice 5.2 is working with a
reasonable speed. So I don't think that there's something wrong with Mandrake
8.0. Perhaps you should just buy more RAM (it's as cheap as never before!).
P.S.
Mandrake 8.0 even works on my old 133 mhz pentium, but there it is indeed
slow!
