Thankfully, I haven't had the problem of manually-added menu items Not 
appearing, be it for user or system, since LM8.

However, what I'd like to ask is why is it even necessary to have to do 
this in the first place? I mean, menus are added automatically after 
installing applications in Windows, so why doesn't this happen with 
(non-Mandrake packaged) RPM packages in Linux? If the program icons 
simply can't be created in the menu system automatically under the 
appropriate menu categories, then maybe they could all be "dumped" 
under an "Unfiled" category for later sorting?

I know I might sound picky here. But I recall being so confused when I 
first started out with LM7.2, trying to figure out where the icons of 
new apps are supposed to be. This just might scare off Windows users 
trying out Mandrake. Just a thought. :)
