I was in Gnome, and I went to logout, and as it was
shutting down, it froze up on me, so I waited a while, and a little while
longer, and nothing. Tried Ctrl+Alt+Del and that did nothing. So, as
a last resort, I hit "reset" on my computer. It loaded back up, into the
console and when I type "startx" I get a couple errors that are something to the
effect of "Could not load XKB Keymap Font 'Fixed'" and "Fatal Server Error", and
"Could not INIT font path element UNIX/:-1". Anyhow, it wouldn't load up
gnome again. I have already had this problem twice before, and I solved it
by re-installing, but I really don't want to have to re-install Mandrake weekly
(or daily). I am running Mandrake 8.0 on a partition of a 20GB HD as a
dual-boot system w/ Win98 (same HD). I have a 933mhz Pentium 3, 256RAM and
an AZZA motherboard. Is there anyway to fix this without
re-installing? I didn't think it had anything to do with running a
dual-boot, but who knows...not me. Any help anyone can offer, or any
directions you can point me will be much appreciated, thanks a lot.
